Saddle-trained horses for adoption Oct. 9

The Bureau of Land Management, the Nevada Department of Agriculture and the Nevada Department of Corrections are hosting the third of three annual horse adoption events in Carson City, 9 a.m. Oct. 9 at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center off Snyder Avenue.

Seventeen wild horses from BLM-administered public lands will be offered for adoption at the corrals starting at 9 a.m. for public viewing, followed by a competitive bid adoption that begins at 10 a.m.

The horses are 2 to 4 years old, saddle-trained with 120 days of training, and vary in weight and color. The beginning bid is $150. The horses are trained at the NNCC by inmates in the Nevada Department of Corrections program.
