The weather should start to cool off by Sunday as scattered thunder and rain storms begin to enter the region today, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the high 70s on Sunday and will drop to the low 60s for Tuesday's high.

Jim Wallmann, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Reno, said the high pressure system that caused this week's heat wave is moving east and is being replaced by a low pressure system from the Pacific that will bring cooler and wetter weather.

Today's weather is expected to be in the high 80s with a slight chance of thunderstorms.
