Thin Diet: A young Carson couple who tried to live on love found that the first day after marriage that they had slight yearnings for something really substantial and finally killed the canary bird for breakfast.

100 YEARS AGO

Carson City was treated to an unusual sight this morning when Postmaster Hofer took the route of carrier Ruedy in the southern section of the city. Under postal regulations Mr. Ruedy is taking his regular examinations and having no one to fall back on, the postmaster took the big mail sack. The mail was delivered on time. Postmaster Hofer as a government official gives the people the best service that can be secured.

70 YEARS AGO

The Parent-Teachers' Association held their monthly meeting. It was decided to continue the hot lunch project in the elementary building vacated by the home economics class.

50 YEARS AGO

St. Teresa's annual Fall Festival was reported a success. Over 200 were served at the buffet ham dinner. A special feature of the table decoration was cake topped with miniature replica of St. Teresa's church.

20 YEARS AGO

The bankrupt Mustang Ranch remains on the Internal Revenue Service's auction block even though Storey County Commission-ers have banned prostitution at the bordello.

10 YEARS AGO

Preparation for the demolition of the Carson City Square shopping center on Highway 50 east will begin next week. The center, formerly home to Lucky's grocery, Longs Drugs and a post office branch is being razed to make way for the freeway.
