LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern California defensive coordinator Ed Orgeron was briefly hospitalized because of an infection in his broken right foot.

Coach Lane Kiffin announced Orgeron was in the hospital after Thursday night's practice.

ESPN later reported Orgeron left the hospital and says he'll coach Saturday at Stanford.

Orgeron is a veteran assistant coach and respected recruiter who coached alongside Kiffin on Pete Carroll's USC staffs before becoming head coach at Ole Miss.

Orgeron had surgery after breaking his foot during practice last month. He has been coaching on crutches.
