The Carson River Advisory Committee and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce will host a Carson River work day and cleanup from 8:30 a.m.-noon Oct. 16 at Carson River Park.
Kiwanis Club of Carson City will provide a free barbecue lunch for all volunteers following the event. This is an annual event which focuses on cottonwood tree protection, willow planting to stabilize the riverbank and trash pick up.
Residents are invited to join their neighbors and come out to the Carson River for a fall morning of work and fun. Participants should dress warm for work, including gloves and hat.
This event is part of the chamber's goal to create and maintain pride in the community and the committee's goal to protect and enhance wildlife habitat along the Carson River.
Contact the chamber at 882-1565 to be put on the volunteer list for this event.
