130 YEARS AGO

Winter Archery. During the coming winter, Sweeny and Allen will have a covered archery gallery with a range of 25 yards, that the lovers of the sport may enjoy themselves indoors. He will run it on the same principal as a small shooting gallery with small rifles. Such a gallery has opened in Gold Hill, where it is very popular.

100 YEARS AGO

The passing of the Brunswick mill into the hands of the new smelter people is the last relic of the bonanza days as the Comstock comes to a close. Bob Logan, who acted as superintendent for the last run on the river, will have the distinction of having made the final clean-up of the ores from the Comstock.

70 YEARS AGO

The possibility of part of the state detachment of the Nevada national guard may be mobilized for active duty at the selective service headquarters for the State of Nevada. The state detachment has an authorized full strength of 17 enlisted men.

50 YEARS AGO

Isle Bair, chairman of the local board No. 13 of Ormsby County (Carson City) today advised all young men to check current Selective Service classifications and status. He reminded them of their continued responsibility to keep the local board informed of their whereabouts.

20 YEARS AGO

Nearly 30 volunteers from Southwest Gas Corporation showed up Saturday to help restore Helen Boardman's house at 215 Mountain Street. Boardman's house was recommended for restoration because at 96, she is unable to do the work herself.

10 YEARS AGO

Of all national parks in the United States, Nevada's Great Basin National Park is probably the least visited due to it's remote location. It is a year-round park, famous for bristle cone pine trees and Bighorn sheep, and Lehman Caves.
