Senior Spotlight this week is on Sierra Jiron. With a grade-point average of 4.5, Sierra has a full course load including wind ensemble, AP government, honors CADD II, AP English, AP calculus, and jazz band.

Sierra, plans on attending the University of Washington, the University of Oregon, or the University of Nevada majoring in music education or architecture.

Sierra is an active member of CHS, belonging to the marching band as a drum major, and the National Honor Society. She is also a National Merit semifinalist. We are proud to have Sierra as our student.

Winter sports sign-ups will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the north foyer. Returning students will be able to sign up with the team coach at this time.

New athletes must turn in a completed sports packet (available online at www.carsonhigh.com, "Activities" button).

Athletes must have at least a 2.0 grade-point average and no failures at first quarter grade check ending Oct. 15.

Deadline for sign-ups are 2 p.m. Nov. 8 in the athletic office. Winter sports include basketball, wrestling, ski/snowboard and rifle team.

Briana Neben is this week's Student of the Week.

Briana has played a key role in getting HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) off to a great start at Carson High.

The application deadline for the Rotary Foreign Exchange Program has been extended to Tuesday. Completed applications can be turned in to the guidance office.
