Railroad fans turned out Thursday evening at the Galaxy Theater at Casino Fandango for the premier of the DVD "The V&T Lives." The hour-long documentary highlights the 18 years it has taken to put the historic railroad back into operation.
A reception hosted by the Northern Nevada Railway Foundation featured hors d'oeuvres from Gold Dust West and wine provided by Herbal Rose. Guests received a commemorative photo and a collectible ticket and program.
The DVD, made possible by a grant from the Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors, costs $24.99 for wide screen or $29.99 for Blu-ray. It can be ordered at 885-6833 or www.steamtrain.org. Net proceeds will go to the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T Railroad to complete the final 4.5 miles.
A public showing of the DVD will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Galaxy. Tickets are $6.50. Half the admission price will be donated to the foundation, which will pass it on to the V&T Commission.
