On Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, Eleanor Lorraine Sulli was called home to be with her sweetheart and husband of almost 60 years, Emil Carmen Sulli, her daughter Kathy Boehmer-Sulli and many other loving family members awaiting to reunite with her once again on the other side of the Eternal Vail.
Ellie was a loving wife and a dedicated mother of four children and many grandchildren, which she aided in raising and caring for most of their lives. Eleanor was a woman of many talents. She found joy in cooking and baking for those around her until the time came that she was not physically able to do it anymore, then she joyed in telling the people who cared for her how it was done. To say the least, anybody who would visit her home or her deli never left hungry. She had a great love for music, dancing, and playing the piano and encouraged and supported her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to do the same. To be around Ellie was to be loved. Eleanor co-owned and operated along with her deceased daughter, Kathy Boehmer, Buy The Chunk Delicatessen in Carson City for more than 15 years. Ellie, along with her loving husband, Emil, volunteered an abundance of time to the Ormsby Association for Retarded Citizens-OARC, which their son, John Sulli, participated in.
Ellie's true mission in this life, however, was her family - always taking the time to share in each family member's joys as well as their sorrows and letting them know how much they were loved. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend she will be greatly missed by all of us.
Eleanor is survived by three children: Jo Ann Medina, John Sulli, and Nick (Teri) Sulli; eight grandchildren: Rick Medina, Jerry Medina, Johanna (Sean Nebeker) Phillips, Davina Agee, Robert Boehmer, Rebecca (Michael) Saraceno, Chelsea (Mike) Ross and Shawn Sulli; three great-grandchildren: Mikey Phillips, Chelsea Phillips and Teresa Boehmer, all of Carson City; and her loving baby sister, Marge (Art) De Mattei of San Jose, Calif. She is preceded in death by her husband, Emil Sulli; daughter, Katherine Boehmer-Sulli; her parents; and all but one of her nine brothers and sisters.
Honoring her and her husbands wishes, no formal public memorial will be performed. In lieu of flowers, Eleanor requested before she passed, that donations be made to the OARC- Ormsby Association for Retarded Citizens, or a Mass said in her and her husband's honor at St. Teresa's Catholic Community.
