Carson City Health and Human Services announced that Mayor Bob Crowell has proclaimed that Saturday is Community Flu Vaccination Day.

The proclamation emphasizes the importance of vaccination as the best defense against flu, and serves as a reminder that free influenza vaccinations will be offered to the community that Saturday.

Three free vaccination clinics will operate from

9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday Locations are:

• Walk-in: Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, Carson City

• Drive-thru: Nevada National Guard, 2444 Fairview Drive, Carson City

• Drive-thru: East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts, Station 12, 3620 North Sunridge Drive, north Douglas County

On Thursday, a CCHHS registered nurse strike team delivered a dose of flu vaccination to Crowell.

Crowell then presented the proclamation and receive his injection. Although he is healthy, Mayor Crowell's age precludes him from qualifying for nasal mist.

"If I can handle getting a flu shot, anyone can," Crowell said.
