Mark NeuCollins will give an illustrated lecture "Blue Skies & Green Vistas: Artists and the Environment" at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The program is part of the Carson City Arts Initiative Nevada Neighbors Lecture Series.

There will be an informal reception for NeuCollins at 6:15 p.m., preceding his talk. Both events are free and open to the public.

In his talk, NeuCollins will discuss art as connected with the environment. His interest in conservation and the environment have led to research discoveries that he will present. NeuCollins approaches art from an intermedia/interdisciplinary stance. The artist cannot separate the art from the environment.

He has taught introductory and advanced Intermedia classes and "The Virtual Object," a special topics course that introduces artists to computer programming.
