Retired Carson firefighter killed in Genoa accident

A retired Carson City firefighter was killed Saturday night when he crashed his motorcycle on Genoa Lane.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Christian Joseph Coleman, 59, was eastbound on Genoa Lane when his motorcycle left the right edge of the roadway and crashed about 9:45 p.m.

Medics found Coleman in a field and he was taken by helicopter to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Coleman, who went by the name "C.J.," was a Carson City firefighter from 1971 until he retired in 1997.

According to Fire Chief Stacey Giomi, Coleman held the ranks of engineer, captain, battalion chief and division chief in his 26 years with the department.

Nevada Highway Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this accident. Anyone with additional information should contact the Trooper Dan Gordon at (775) 684-7380, regarding case No. NHP-1010161141.
