RENO - Carson High's boys soccer team tuned up for its regular-season finale against Galena with a 3-0 win over Bishop Manogue in a Sierra League match Saturday afternoon.

The win pushed Carson's record to 11-1-3 in Northern 4A play. Galena hosts Carson at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

"It was a bit of a slow game for us," Carson coach Eric Masters said. "We didn't put the foot on the accelerator as much as I would have liked to. I told the kids that Manogue was not just going to roll out the red carpet and let us score eight goals. We didn't play at the level I know we can play at."

Johnathan Lopez, Gustavo Gonzales and Sam Hutchinson scored for the Senators. Hutchinson's score came when he was dragged down in the penalty box and he converted the ensuing kick.

Masters praised the play of Jon Guevara, Mario Escalante, Gonzales and Francisco Barrios, al of whom came off the bench in Saturday's contest.

"It was a flat game," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "They played us tough. Or girls weren't prepared to play. Hopefully this was our (only) downslide before zone."
