Road report for week of Oct. 25

The following information applies to the period of October 25-31, 2010:

Due to celebrations for Nevada Day, Carson Street will be closed between Winnie Lane and Stewart Street beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, and will not reopen until the afternoon following the completion of the Nevada Day parade.

Additionally, side streets along Carson Street between William Street and Winnie Lane will be closed for parade staging the morning of Oct. 30 and Stewart Street will be closed at its southern end from Carson Street to Little Lane. Alternative routes will be required for through traffic.

The Roop Street widening project is continuing and is expected to be completed by the end of 2010. The following impacts are expected this week:

• Washington Street is now open between Roop and Walsh streets. Please be advised that Washington Street is now a one-way street between Roop Street and just east of the library parking lot entrance.

• Roop Street will have intermittent lane restrictions from Robinson Street to Washington Street for striping.

• William Street will have intermittent westbound lane closures at Roop Street on Monday - Friday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

• Long Street will be closed from Stewart Street to Marian Street. Traffic will be detoured via Stewart Street, Corbett Street, and Molly Drive.

• Lee and Beverly streets will be closed to through traffic at Roop Street. All Senior Center traffic should use Beverly Drive from the east via Marian Avenue, Molly Drive, and Corbett Street.

• Roop Street is closed from William Street to Stewart Street through the completion of the project.

• Lane restrictions will be in place at the intersection of Winnie Lane and Roop Street. The intersection will be open to through traffic.
