130 YEARS AGO

Sharon's residence: A dispatch from San Francisco gives a new point on Sharon's residence, which is a crusher. The Globe publishes an interesting review of F. Bolland vs. W. Sharon for the recovery of $183.40 due as a commission brokerage. W. Sharon gave testimony in 1873 that he has never been out of the state (of California) for nine months since 1873. It shows Sharon (a Nevada Senator) as a resident of the city and county of San Francisco. Sharon won the suit on the statute of limitations.

100 YEARS AGO

Nevada lost the football game with Stanford Saturday but it is claimed that the present Nevada team is the best that has ever been formed in the State. Stanford holds a like title on the coast and it is probably the only team that can take the scalp of Nevada.

70 YEARS AGO

A telegram to the Appeal from Senator P.A. McCarran states: "I am delighted to advise of the successful culmination of continued efforts to secure establishment of a new direct Reno-Los Angeles commercial air route to be operated by one of the largest airlines in the country."

50 YEARS AGO

A native of Carson City opened the doors to a business venture, Payless Cleaners at 115 E. Robinson St. Dewey Fukui attended both Carson City grammar and high schools, graduating with the class of 1935. After graduating high school he worked with his father until World War II when he joined the U. S. Army, serving in Europe.

20 YEARS AGO

Winds are expected Wednesday for Nevada's 126th anniversary celebration. A strong cold front is expected for the Sierras and Lake Tahoe.

10 YEARS AGO

Nevada Day has wandered the calendar for a number of years, having first been observed in 1914 with the first parade in Reno. Admission Day was changed to Nevada Day in 1933.
