Upon receiving the American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player Award, Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers praised God and thanked the Lord Jesus Christ. Hamilton was not the only player to publicly profess faith in Christ. Yankee pitcher, Phil Hughes, wore a baseball glove with Philippians 4:13 embossed in gold lettering upon the black leather. Other players would point heavenward after a big hit or outstanding play.

What made Josh Hamilton's brief words so moving? Hamilton's words were heartfelt and spoken by a man who is truly thankful for the new life that he has received. A few short years ago, Josh was addicted to alcohol and drugs. He found himself out of baseball and his life going nowhere fast. Then he took Jesus as his Lord and Savior. With the Lord's help, Hamilton realized what Phil Hughes had referenced on his glove, "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."

Hamilton left the path that leads to death and he found new life in Christ. He no longer wastes the God-given talent that he possesses. His future is bright and his life is eternal.

As a baseball player, Josh Hamilton is a five-talent man. He hits for average. He hits with power. He has speed, a strong throwing arm and a good glove. Few ever play major league baseball at the level of a Josh Hamilton. Like Josh, however, anyone can turn to the Lord and find new life, eternal life and opportunities now to use talents and abilities that will bring honor and glory to God.

How about you? Will you be one of God's M.V.P.S?
