Workshop about specialty crops

As demand for locally-grown food rises, more farmers are interested in growing fresh produce and specialty crops for consumers.

Introduction to Specialty Crops workshop will be presented 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 19, at the Jeanne Dini Cultural Center, 120 N. California St., Yerington.

Participants will learn what products are considered specialty crops and the potential for growing and selling these crops in Northern Nevada. Topics include hoop houses and season extension practices, viticulture, Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs) and more.
