Pot advertised on fliers ends in four arrests

A flier advertising marijuana for sale led officers to a Park Street home where four people were arrested.

Rikki Jean Munoz, 22, a caregiver from Carson City, was arrested at 7 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of East Park Street on suspicion of felony maintaining a drug house, possession of heroin, gross misdemeanor child endangerment, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of marijuana.

Also arrested were:

• Melissa Mulder, a transient unemployed dancer, on suspicion of felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and violation of a suspended sentence.

• Greg Lynn Franz, 28, a transient unemployed painter, on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of probation violation.

• Jamie Lynn Weir, 22, unemployed from Carson City, on suspicion of misdemeanor failure to appear on a traffic citation.

According to the arrest report, members of the Carson City Sheriff's Special Enforcement Team came across fliers on Long Street which stated: "420. Looking for new clients, always a good supply! Let my 'green card' work for you."

The fliers also listed the name Tim, with a phone number and an address of 417 E. Park St. No. 12.

Officers went to the address and noted there was a camera in a window pointed toward the street and a note on the door that advised visitors, "If you don't call first we won't answer the door."

Deputies knocked anyway and after several minutes, a man and woman opened the door.

Initially the couple denied anyone else was in the home, but officers located several people there, including Munoz, Weir, Mulder and Franz, and Munoz's 2-year-old daughter found alone in a "messy" bedroom, the report states.

Child Protective Services was called and the child was released to a family member.

According to Deputy Sam Hatley, Munoz denied she or her boyfriend distributed the flier and it was likely a set-up.

But, the report states, she allegedly admitted they were smoking heroin and marijuana when the officers arrived. Munoz said that, upon realizing police were there, Franz allegedly flushed heroin down the toilet, the report states.

During a search of the apartment, officers found heroin paraphernalia, a small amount of heroin in a dresser, used hypodermic needles in a laundry box on the floor within reach of the child and a jar of "clean" urine in the closet deputies surmised the tenants used so a urinalysis test would not show drug use.

Munoz's bail was set at $20,000. Mulder's bail was set at $3,645. Franz's bail was set at $11, 096. Weir's bail was set at $207.
