Competitors, sponsors, equestrian enthusiasts and 50 red rock walking hounds will get together Saturday for Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby in Washoe Valley.
The event will feature some of the nation's best horses and riders competing for a $25,000 purse, which will be split between the top winners.
Gates open at 10:30 a.m. with a viewing of classic cars and promenade of shops. A champagne brunch is at 11 a.m., and the derby begins at 1 p.m.
Tickets are $200 each or a table for 10 is $2,500.
Franktown Meadows is at 4200 Old U.S. 395 in Washoe Valley. From Carson City, take U.S. 395 North. Take Exit 44 for Eastlake Blvd. Turn left at Eastlake Blvd. Turn right at NV-429/Old U.S. 395 North/State Road 422. Destination will be on the right.
