A 33-year-old Carson City woman is in jail after allegedly threatening a 16-year-old boy with a knife after attempting to take $50 from him.

Sommer Wesselman was arrested at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Highway 50 East and Saliman Road. She is being held on $40,000 bail.

Wesselman allegedly approached the boy and his mother when they arrived at their home Tuesday night and asked them for 50 cents to make a phone call.

The boy reached into his pocket to retrieve 50 cents, but also brought out $50 in cash. Wesselman allegedly reached for the cash, prompting the boy to take several steps back.

Wesselman then allegedly removed a folding knife from her pocket and pointed it at the boy, who fled with his mother to call for help.

Police later found Wesselman squatting down near trees and bushes. She was charged with attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, a felony.
