Candy Dance, Street Vibrations and Carson's Stoke to Help Fight Breast Cancer Golf Tournament are all this coming weekend.

Stroke to Help is providing free mammograms to the under served women in our community. To date, the tournament has provided more than 1,000 screenings or ultra sounds and more then 20 biopsies for woman with no insurance or no financial ability to pay.

Great Basin Imaging has supported us throughout the years as a corporate sponsor as well as Nevada State Bank and Carson City Toyota. Without each of the corporate, tee sponsors and all the supportive and wonderful golfers there would be no hope of survival.

Thank you, and see you all Saturday. Then you can go buy candy on your Harley.

MARY'S EMBRACE

Come out and support the opening of Carson City's new maternity home for pregnant teenagers that are homeless or in crisis.

Trust me, I am not advocating teen births but I am advocating a safe and secure place for a child to come into this world.

Carson City has the highest teen birth rate in the state. In 2007, there were 55 teen births per 1,000 people, so we can choose to help or pretend there is nothing going on and look the other way.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

With school well on its way, the early numbers from the schools indicate the need to feed homeless and in-need children continues to grow.

The Food for Thought program relies on funding and support from the people in the community.
