Soroptimists host golf tournament to beat breast cancer


Soroptimist International of Carson City is hosting the sixth annual Stroke to Help Fight Breast Cancer Golf Tournament on Saturday at Eagle Valley Golf Course. The cost per player is only $75, which includes green fees, golf cart and barbecue lunch. Sign in begins at 8 a.m. This fundraising event will help provide free screening and diagnostic mammograms and breast ultrasounds to women in our community who cannot afford these services. Baby massage classes offered


Learn the ancient art of Infant Massage and Communication in a five-week session at 10 a.m. beginning Saturday at Chi Therapeutic Massage and Aesthetics, 755 N Roop St.,, Ste 102. Infant massage facilitates growth, increases circulation, and can result in improved immune function. It helps to relieve colic, can reduce the baby's and parent's stress, and helps maintain health.


Classes last approximately 90 minutes. Cost is $100 for all sessions.

Douglas library holding annual sale


The Douglas County Library's annual fall sale will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. The sale will be held at the C.V.I.C. Hall, 1604 Esmeralda Avenue in Minden. Hundreds of used books, audio books, and children's books will be on sale. Videos, software, and music will also be available. From 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 1, all remaining items will be half price.


A special preview for members of The Friends of the Douglas County Public Library will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Become a member and attend the preview by joining at the door Friday evening. Band selected for Candy Dance


The Dealer's Choice Band, joined by guest fiddler Lolli Jones, will perform live music for "Candy Dancing" at the annual Genoa Candy Dance dinner dance from 6-10 p.m., Saturday at the Orchard House in Genoa. Originally from Gardnerville, Dealer's Choice has performed in many Carson Valley locations including Topaz Lodge, Dini's Lucky Club in Yerington, MJ's Sports Bar in Carson City and Buckaroo's in Gardnerville. Peddlers Fair to benefit orchestra


For a weekend of fun, food and drink come to the 10th Genoa Peddlers Fair from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The fair benefits the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra, who could not continue to provide free concerts to the community without the support of donations.
