130 YEARS AGO

Changed his mind: A man in Carson who has been working for five years has been engaged in the greatest effort of his life, a work on "Logic and Debate." He got into an argument with his wife on the time of the moon's rising, and she crammed the manuscript of his great work into the stove.

120 YEARS AGO

Governor Stevenson dead: The Appeal finds its sad duty to report the death of Nevada's chief executive. It is the first time in the history of the state that death has struck down a governor at the post of duty. He leaves a wife and several children. Death is a result of typhoid fever.

70 YEARS AGO

An old-time rolling pin made by some farmer was found by Ike Whistler and Art Reymers on the bank of the Tunnel ditch. Evidently, the rolling pin also served as a potato masher since only one handle was carved. It is about three times as large as the ordinary pin and if wielded by an irate housewife, would prove a dangerous weapon.

50 YEARS AGO

Bandanna Drive-in sale announced. The Bandanna Drive-Inn was sold to Dick Graves by Richard L. (Dick) Waters. The drive-in will be closed after five years of operation. Waters plans to "go fishin'."

20 YEARS AGO

10 YEARS AGO

The long-empty Salvation Army store on Carson street will become an upscale antique store. Hanifins Antique store from South Lake Tahoe will move into the downtown Carson City store and open the first half of November.
