A 34-year-old Reno woman was arrested Saturday at 7:55 p.m. after she allegedly sped away from Carson City sheriff's deputies, reaching 50 mph through downtown Carson City with her 10-year-old son in the back seat.
According to police, a citizen noticed Janee Glanzmann driving recklessly on southbound Carson Street and waved down a deputy to tell him. Meanwhile, 911 calls started pouring in to report that a woman driving a car in south Carson City was doing doughnuts, flashing her lights and honking her horn.
Once deputies spotted Glanzmann in the northbound lane of Carson Street near Stewart Street, she allegedly sped away from them in the middle lane at about 50 mph in a 25 mph zone.
She then pulled into southbound traffic while going northbound, causing cars to pull to the side. She continued northbound, swerving through north and southbound lanes.
Deputies pulled in front of her to force her to stop, but she pulled into the southbound lane, nearly causing more collisions and ran the red light at Musser Street.
Deputies lost sight of her as she turned eastbound onto Highway 50. A few moments later she pulled into the sheriff's office parking lot where she was Tasered by a deputy.
Police said they had to use the Taser to "gain compliance" of Glanzmann as they approached her.
Police found her 10-year-old son lying down in the back seat of the car. He was released to his grandmother.
Glanzmann was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, a gross misdemeanor, and misdemeanors of reckless driving, eluding, speeding and failure to maintain her lane. Bail was set at $3,978.
