COMMUNITY SPORTS: Bighorns put playoff tickets on sale

RENO - Reno Bighorns single-game and group playoff ticket packages went on sale Tuesday at Ticketmaster.com, RenoBighorns.com, the Reno Events Center box office, the Silver Legacy box office and the Reno Bighorns front office.

Single-game tickets range from $10 to $125 per game with six-game playoff packages available as well. Fans can visit any of the above locations or call the Bighorns directly at (775) 284-2622 for more information or to order over the phone.

Fans can purchase single game tickets or a block of six tickets-one for each potential home game during the 2011 playoffs-with the option to apply the balance to any 2011-12 ticket plan if the Bighorns play fewer than six home games. Group tickets to all six potential home games are available, with discounted rates available for non-profit organizations and any group of 10 or more people.

The Western Conference-champion Bighorns (34-16) open their 2011 title run in Erie, Penn., on April 10 against the Erie BayHawks. Game 2 will be played in the Reno Events Center on Tuesday, April 12, with Game 3 set for Thursday, April 14 in Reno, if necessary. Both Bighorns home games will be played at 7 p.m.

Tim Davis and Bob Pemberton combined for a net 62 to win Flight A at the Carson Valley Men's Club best-ball tournament over the weekend.

Daryle Lewis and Marc Prauses were a stroke behind with a 63.

Ed Umphies and John Murray won Flight B with a 65. Gary Carsten and Bruce Sanford won Flight C with a 68.

Jim Travernier and Gerald Bing were closest-to-the-hole winners with their shots at No. 1 and No. 18, respectively.

Eric Dereng of Jerry's Shooters leads the 4-5 tier with 34 points, four better than teammate Robert Bogue and Mike Snoddy of Cues Yer Daddy. Caren Adkins of The Spoke leads the 2-3 tier with 24 points, one ahead of Rachel Hurt of Cues Yer Daddy.

Yabba Dabba Cue leads the Comstock Division 933-899 over All Work & No Play. Don Allred of Rack Busters leads the 6-9 tier 33-28 over Alex Gutierrez of Dean's Machine. Jeff Cordova of All Work & No Play leads the 4-5 tier 40-33 over Christopher Skelley of Dean's Machine. AltF4 and Big Dogs are tied for the lead in the Mosconi Division with 46 points apiece. Jack Parish of Unintentional Defense leads the 6-7 tier with 35 points, five better than teammate Robert Haddix. Joshua Stewart and Robert Wilson, both of AltF4, lead the 4-5 tier with 29 and 26 points, respectively. Josiah Toledo of Rack Fink leads the 2-3 tier 30-19 over Jerrika Wendt of Jerry's Kids.

Dayton Inn leads OG Squeeze 52-49 in the Highway 50 Division. Bill Howard of VC Miners leads the 6-7 tier with 10 points. Shawn Wilson, also of Dayton Inn, leads the 4-5 tier by three points over Perry Levy of VC Miners. James Fowler of Dayton Inn tops the 2-3 tier with 30 points, six better than Robert Stout of OG Squeeze.


Pop Warner slates

fund-raiser in May

Pop Warner is hosting a Poker Night May 14 at the Plaza Hotel Conference Center.

The cost is $20 for entrance and food with the initial buy-in for Texas Hold'em set at $40.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and food will be served at that time. Action begins at 7 p.m.
