DAYTON - Conner Oliver struck out 14 of 15 batters en route to pitching a perfect game in a 14-0 win over Silver Stage in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

In the second game, Dayton rolled to a 13-0 win. Both games were called after 4 1/2 innings because of the mercy rule.

The only batter Oliver didn't strike out managed a weak groundball to second base. Oliver went to only one full count in his gem.

"He was just cruising the whole time," said coach Jay Merrill. "This is the first perfect game since I've been here."

Dayton led 5-0 after two and scored six in the third for an 11-0 lead. The Dust Devils tacked on three more in the fourth.

Oliver also was the hitting star, going 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBIs. Kyle Farnworth and Houston Berntson each went 2-for-4 and Jake Koch added a solo homer.

In the nightcap, Dayton scored eight times in second-inning for a quick 12-0 lead. Berntson went the distance, allowing just a first-inning hit and striking out 11.

Sam Hadley went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Berntson went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. Farnworth added two hits and an RBI.

"We hit the ball well," Carson coach Scott Vickrey said. "We didn't play bad defense, but it wasn't good enough against a team like Spanish Springs."

Carson took a 3-2 lead in the third on the strength of a run-scoring single by Lisa Yamamoto and a two-run triple by Lauren Knorzer. Spanish Springs answered back in the bottom of the inning to score twice for a 4-3 lead, an advantage the Cougars never relinquished.
