Carson City Sheriff's investigators are searching for a recently released jail inmate who allegedly held a woman at gunpoint and fired a shot into a garage door on Dori Way just before 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to Sheriff Ken Furlong. Anthony Martin, 30, was last seen in 1900 block of Dori Way.

Deputies were called out to the home on Dori Way after Martin allegedly arrived there just before 6 a.m. holding a woman by the neck.

When a tenant in the home saw him coming, she slammed the garage door shut and Martin allegedly fired a shot into it.

Furlong said Martin then released the woman who sought shelter in the home and fled on foot taking the shotgun with him.

When the tenant called 911, the woman also fled and officers have also not been able to locate her.

It's believed Wednesday morning's call is related to a call from Tuesday night when a man reported at 10 p.m. he found a prowler in his yard on Neptune Court. When the prowler saw the man, the prowler pointed a gun at him, said Furlong.

In both instances, the suspect was wearing a red shirt and carrying a shotgun.

This morning in the search for Martin, officers found the red shirt nearby on Concord Way.

Martin was released from jail Aug. 15, after having served 90 days on a probation violation, records indicate.

He was jailed June 6 on suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a suspended sentence.

He allegedly tried to run over a woman and then fled a traffic stop.

All the charges, except for the battery with a deadly weapon, were ultimately dismissed against Martin.

On July 6 he was given 90 days in jail for A probation violation, (with credit for time served already) and a suspended sentence of 120 on the battery charge.

Furlong said the incident Wednesday appears to be domestic in nature. Martin is allegedly upset at an indiscretion his girlfriend had while he was in custody.

Following the shooting this morning, officers actively searched the neighborhood. When children started arriving at bus stops, the searched was stopped in the hopes that the suspect would stay put.

On Wednesday afternoon, several officers raided a vacant house in the 2800 block of Airport Road which Martin once listed as his home address, but came up empty, said Furlong.

Detective Daniel Gonzales said Martin also has an outstanding felony burglary warrant and warned Martin's friends to turn him in.

"He is a wanted felon. Anybody hiding him will be prosecuted," said Gonzales.

Anyone with information on Martin's whereabouts is urged to call 911.

And as always, Carson City Secret Witness will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals committing crimes.
