LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Nevada Supreme Court has suspended the law license of former Nye County District Attorney Bob Beckett following his no-contest plea to a misdemeanor charge in Pahrump last year.

The order dated Dec. 30 and posted Thursday bans Beckett from practicing law in Nevada pending formal Nevada State Bar disciplinary proceedings.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Beckett pleaded no contest in October to obstructing a public officer in a case involving allegations of embezzlement from a fund managed by his office.

The charge is due for dismissal if he completes alcohol treatment.

As part of his plea deal, Beckett resigned as DA on Nov. 1.
