Hoops tourney canceled

Due to a lack of entries in Carson City's 3-on-3 Street Heat Basketball Tournament, the event has been cancelled. The organizers are exploring the possibility of hosting the event at a later date.


Bighorns to honor

Anderson, Aiazzi

The Nevada Bighorns are honoring Stephen Anderson and Keegan Aiazzi Sunday on Field 6 at Governors Field.

The ceremony is scheduled for approximately 2 p.m.

Aiazzi and Anderson died in a scuba diving accident this past April. Anderson played two years in the Bighorns' program.

All donations collected at the game will be given to the two families.


Aces squash Bees

RENO - Pacific Coast League RBI leader and All-Star Cody Ransom went 4-for-5 with five runs driven in Friday, powering the Reno Aces to a 17-8 win over the Salt Lake Bees in front of 8,394 fans at Aces Ballpark.

Ransom, who has driven in nine runs in the Aces' past two games, now has 79 RBIs in just 77 games played this season. He hit a three-run home run for the second-consecutive day, and has 16 more RBIs than anyone else in the league.

Aces reliever Jeff Bennett (2-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Rafael Rodriguez, who allowed five earned runs in three-plus innings of work. Bennett tossed three scoreless frames, striking out two and walking just one Bees batter.

The first-place Aces take on the Bees in the third game of this four-game set this evening at Aces Ballpark. Aces RHP Gaby Hernandez (2-1, 5.29 ERA) will take the ball against Bees RHP Bear Bay (5-4, 4.76 ERA), with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. today is Superhero Cape Night, with 2,500 fans receiving an Aces superhero cape.
