Obituary: Patricia Helen Ricks

Patricia Helen Ricks, 73, passed away after a long illness. She was born in Los Angeles to Richard and Helen Green in 1938. At a very early age, Pat began playing the piano at the Idyllwild School of Music. She was accepted to the Juilliard School of Music. She began teaching at The Sherwood and Idyllwild School of Music. Pat enjoyed her time traveling and performing but her passion was teaching music.

She moved to Fallon more than 30 years ago and began giving private music lessons. She taught music to several generations of the people in Fallon and many of her students went on to compete and win in competitions and received awards for their talent.

Pat is survived by her children, Bryan Ricks of Carson City; daughters, Karyn Ricks of Sacramento and Sharyn Juarez of Fallon; grandchildren, Erika Ricks, Nicole Persek, Kristen, Kaitlynn and Kelsey Hill and Juliana Juarez and great-grandson, Wyatt Ricks. Pat's closest family friends were the Harkins family who cared for and shared many memories with Pat during her final years before her passing.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Drive, Fallon (775) 423-2255. This will be followed by a reception at 4 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1170 S. Taylor St., Fallon.
