Carson City

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All suspects are innocent until proved guilty in court:

• Brent Buscay, 40, unemployed from Carson City was arrested at 1:07 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Havenwood Court on suspicion of felony battery with choking, preventing or dissuading a victim from reporting a crime. Bail was set at $15,000.

• Joseph Kenneth Carter, 26, a transient, was arrested at 3:45 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Woodside Drive on suspicion of felony possession of stolen vehicle, probation violation, misdemeanor eluding a peace officer, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license and obstructing a peace officer. Carter allegedly led police on a high-speed chase before jumping from the vehicle in the 1100 block of Woodside Drive and ultimately being arrested. No bail was set.

• Randy John, 53, of Carson City, was arrested at 7:38 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of South Roop Street on suspicion of felony failure to pay fines and criminal contempt. Bail was set at $429.

• Edson Waldir Guzman-Chicas, 25, a kitchen maintenance worker from Reno, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. on suspicion of felony burglary. Bail was set at $20,000.

• Michael Dan Blackwell, 43, unemployed from Carson City, was arrested at 4:08 p.m. Friday on Carson River Road on suspicion of gross misdemeanor second-offense drunken driving with accident and misdemeanor failure to use due care. Bail was set at $2,687.

• James Wesley Jackson, 22, unemployed from Carson City, was arrested at 10:17 p.m. Friday on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence. No bail was set.

• A, 22, optician from Carson City, was arrested at 2:52 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East Telegraph Street on suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon. She allegedly struck a woman in the face with a beer bottle. Bail was set at $30,000.

• Merle Vance Blair, 63, retired of Carson City, was arrested at 4:31 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of felony prisoner with controlled substance (marijuana) and misdemeanor battery. Bail was set at $6,000.

The following are some of the calls to which deputies responded Sunday:

• Coroner call at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center at 5:31 a.m.

• Report of $1,000 missing from a home on Green Court at 8:06 a.m.

• A television was stolen from a vacant room at the Plaza Motel sometime before 9:55 a.m.

• Report of a woman walking out a Raley's with cart of unpaid groceries at 12:11 p.m.


Lyon County

The following are some of the calls to which deputies responded Sunday:

• Arrest on Main Street in Fernley at 1:04 a.m.

• Arrest on Farm District Road in Fernley at 3:43 a.m.

• Report of a man lying in a pile of rubble on Interstate 80 at 8:25 a.m. The man was intoxicated and taken into civil protective custody.

• Misdemeanor arrest on Circle Drive in Fernley at 12:54 p.m.

• Misdemeanor arrest on Highway 50 East in Dayton at 12:54 p.m.

• Arrest on Iroquois Trail at 8:49 p.m. in Stagecoach.
