Dick Campagni's Carson City Toyota and Scion gave $2,500 to the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program's Fourth of July fireworks display on Tuesday.
General Manager Dana Whaley said the donation is meant to inspire other Carson City businesses to give to the annual event.
Other supporters include Gold Dust West, NV Energy and the Carson Nugget.
RSVP Executive Director Janice Ayres said the organization is hoping to raise at least $25,000 for the
fireworks show. Last year they spent $20,000 on the firework display in Mills Park.
"It was a good show, we just hope to make it bigger and better," Ayres said. "We don't see any reason why being the capital of Nevada, people should travel up to the lake and up to Reno for fireworks. We just think we should have the best firework show here in the capital."
Whaley said the firework display will give locals a reason to stay in town and support local businesses for the Fourth of July celebrations.
"They can go to Mills Park and they have the whole deal right here," he said.
To make a donation, go to Carson City's Mutual of Omaha Bank, 1101 N. Carson St., and ask to make a donation to the RSVP Fireworks Fund.
