Winter weather and wind advisories are in effect from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday with periods of blowing snow expected in the valleys, producing near-zero visibility. Wind gusts are expected to get up to 55 mph.

Forecast from the National Weather Service:

Late Afternoon: Snow. High near 49. Windy, with a south wind around 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight: Snow. Low around 29. Windy, with a south wind 25 to 30 mph decreasing to between 15 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Saturday: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 45. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. South wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
