LOVELOCK - Kenzie Cole pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 18, and helped herself with a homer and two RBIs to lead Dayton to an 8-1 win in the opening game of Saturday's doublehader against Lovelock.

In the nightcap, Dayton managed an 11-7 win as Makayla Shadle collected three hits and picked up the win in the circle.

"We're getting together as a team really well," said Dayton coach Daven Passalacqua. "Kenzie is at the top of her game and Makayla is doing very well. This is the best team we've had since I've been involved here."

Cole allowed just a third-inning homer. Other than that, the Boise State-bound right-hander was dominant in the circle.

Shadle and Natasha Wells collected two hits each. Wells drove in two runs. Cheyenna Burrows doubled home a run.

In the second game, Wells hit a homer and drove in two runs. Cole and Burrows also had two hits.

BASEBALL: DUST DEVILS SWEEP

LOVELOCK - Dayton improved to 7-0 with a doubleheader seep of Lovelock, 11-4 and 11-5, Saturday afternoon in a Lahontan League battle.

"It went really well," Dayton coach Jay Merrell said. "We had slow starts both games. We got great pitching from everybody who took the mound. We were able to score late and win both games."

In the second game, Dayton trailed 3-1 after three, but went ahead for good with a four-run fourth inning. Oliver and Hadley both had run-scoring hits to key the surge.
