No Smallpox among the Washoe: Captain Joe greatly objects to having his people quarantined. There is no smallpox among his tribe. The Captain feels very indignant. Before Whites settled here, the Indians never were afflicted with smallpox, rheumatism, and other complaints that follow in the wake of civilization.
