Eat at McD's today and donate to Carson schools

Local McDonald's restaurants in Carson City are holding a 100 percent sales day for participating local schools today.

Customers can come in, purchase selected items and name the school they wish to benefit - 100 percent of the sale of that product will then be donated back to the stated school.

These select items are:

• Any premium chicken salad

• Any size shake or McFlurry or fresh fruit smoothie

• Any iced or hot McCafe drink or hot chocolate

• Any Happy Meal or mini meal

• Any snack wrap

• Egg McMuffin sandwich or oatmeal

"We love this community, and are committed to helping our schools receive the resources they need to help our kids grow and receive the best education possible," said Chris Kassity, local McDonald's restaurant owner from Carson City.

In 2009, Kassity and his wife, Sharon, started the Kassity Family School Fund, a non-profit organization that assists local schools. The program enables customers to come into McDonald's restaurants owned by the Kassity's, purchase select items on the menu, and then 25 cents of each item ordered goes back to the customer's school of choice.

"Our schools are in desperate need of funding right now," Kassity said. "Our hope is that this 100 percent sales day will assist our local teachers and school administrators provide a solid education for our future generation."
