B-Thrifty, a new thrift shop at 4750 Highway 50 E., is planning a June 1 opening.

Owner Beverly Rolfe said she plans on donating proceeds from the business to the Carson City Animal Shelter. Rolfe said any donations made prior to her June 1 opening will result in a 15 percent discount at the store.

Rolfe used to run another Carson City thrift store in the 1990s until moving to Spokane, Wash. After moving back to Carson City, "I've been debating whether to open another one," she said. "I decided to do it again, it's a lot of work. But I love helping people, too."

Rolfe's store is filled with clothing, including wedding dresses, as well as collectibles.

Carson Station sale

The Nevada Gaming Control Board is expected to address the pending sale of the Carson Station to a Las Vegas casino management company at its June 8 meeting in Carson City.

In March, 777 Gaming announced it was buying the casino, which has been owned by Clark Russell since 1987.

The property employs 100 people and has 91 hotel rooms. It features slots, seasonal table games, a restaurant, sports book and cabaret bar.

A business license was filed for the property earlier this month in Carson City, using the phone number of 777 Gaming.

New location for off-roading store

Carson Motor Sports opened its new location at 951 Jacks Valley Road, about four weeks ago.

The business came to Carson City in 2008, opening a location on the north end of town. In April it announced it was moving south after new owners took over the business.

New website for Carson casino

The Carson Nugget has launched a redesigned website, www.ccnugget.com.

Among the new website features is a comprehensive specials calendar where users can see at a glance all the current promotions, events, and food and beverage offerings. Those interested in hosting a meeting or a golf event with the Nugget can also request package pricing with online forms.

The website was designed by Estipona Group and programmed by McCormick Winter.
