George C. Johnson, 68 of Minden passed away May 29, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno. George was born June 2, 1942, in Logansport, Ind., to Edward C. and Frances Chamberlin Johnson. George was an engineer for the government. He served three tours in Vietnam in The United Sates Navy from 1961-1969. He was a very active member of the Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge #2670 and was serving as a five-year trustee for the lodge and the Youth Activities Committee chairman.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, David (Lucy) of Gardnerville, and Steve of Naples, Fla.; brother Douglas Johnson of Savannah, Ga.; one granddaughter Amber, and numerous nieces and nephews. An Elks memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements
