TOCCATA - Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus announces its sixth annual production of Handel's Messiah with performances in five locations.
Messiah was first performed in Dublin, Ireland on March 23, 1742, and was conducted by its composer. It continues to be a masterpiece that has left audiences in awe for 270 years. The TOCCATA production is a celebration of the holidays and includes not only favorite selections from Messiah Parts One and Three, but also seasonal carols that the audience will be most welcome to join in singing.
All performances will be directed by Maestro James Rawie. The Messiah series marks the completion of TOCCATA's sixth season. Joining the TOCCATA Orchestra and Chorus for this production are soloists Tammy Brock, Katharine DeBoer, Joy Strotz, and Anna Helwing, sopranos; and Stuart Duke, baritone.
The performances are at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Trinity Church, 200 Island Ave., Reno; at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 in the Resort at Squaw Creek-Olympic Valley; at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 in North Tahoe Event Center-Kings Beach; at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 in St. Theresa Church, South Lake Tahoe; and at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 in the new Assumption Catholic Church in Truckee.
General admission to all concerts is $25 adults, $20 seniors, $5 students 25 and younger with valid ID, and preferred/reserved seating is $35.
Children younger than 12 are admitted free with a paying adult. All performances are supported by the Kling Family Foundation.
