The Carson River Advisory Committee will hear a quagga mussel presentation when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
Karen Vargas of the Nevada Department of Wildlife will present recent positive test findings on quagga mussels in the Lahontan and Rye Patch reservoirs. She also will discuss the potential threat the mussels pose to the Carson River system.
Committee members also will hear the introduction of their newest fellow committee member Daniel Westermeyer, and hear a presentation on an Eagle Scout project to revegetate and stabilize a riverbank on city property upstream from the Deer Run Road Bridge.
They also will have a discussion regarding the Kiwanis Club of Carson City's Carson River Cleanup and Bureau of Land Management's National Public Lands Day held on Sept. 17. The presentation will include an update on an Eagle Scout project to install bat habitat boxes along the Carson river and the committee's work day.
They also will hear a report on Phase 2 of the Carson River Park project, the cancellation of the Blackhawk to Heybourne 120 kv transmission line project and last Friday's River Wrangler Education and Workday at Riverview Park.

• The Open Space Advisory Committee meets at 6 p.m. Monday in the Bonanza Room of the community center.
Committee members will present a resolution honoring Stephen Hartman for his service and contributions to the Quality of Life Open Space program.
They also will hear a presentation on an Eagle Scout project to revegetate and stabilize a riverbank on city property upstream from the Deer Run Road Bridge.
They will discuss a preliminary design report for the non-motorized bridge crossing at Valley View Drive and a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to purchase the Bently property located in the Carson River Canyon, and in partnership with the Virginia and Truckee Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T.
