Carson High improved to 8-2 in Northern 4A soccer with a 2-0 win over Damonte Ranch Tuesday night.

Brenda Torres and Kenzie Tillitt scored for the Senators, who visit Hug at 11 a.m. Saturday. Josilyn Daggs assisted on Tillitt's header.

"They played us tough," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "They played a 4-5-1 to keep us from getting through. They did a god job of keeping us under control."

Despite Damonte's efforts, Carson still outshot Damonte 17-8, and Carson didn't even have a shot on goal for the first 15 minutes of the contest.

The first half was scoreless, as Torres missed a wide-open net when the Damonte goalie got caught out of position, and Arran Rumbaugh's header in the 35th minute failed to find its mark.

Two minutes into the second half, a loose ball in front of the net found Torres' foot, and she found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Sixteen minutes later, Tillitt headed one in off an assist by Daggs, who earlier in the half sent a shot over the crossbar.

Damonte coach Sean Canty spent the better part of 10 minutes chastising two of the game officials. He also refused to grant an interview following the game.
