Warren E. Day, born Dec. 29, 1924, passed away peacefully at his Gardnerville, NV home on Aug. 31, 2011. Raised in the Bay Area, Warren married his high school sweetheart, Sally A. Custer, while on military leave in 1946. Together they raised their three children Janis, Russell and Laurie.
The family purchased "Happy Days", their lakefront Tahoe cabin, in 1962 and spent countless hours enjoying snow skiing, boating, and other outdoor activities with family, friends and neighbors.
In his later years, Warren moved from the Bay Area to his self-designed Gardnerville home to more easily take advantage of his cabin, as well as to enjoy the beautiful views of the Sierras from his new backyard. He continued to enjoy his hobbies of photography, gardening, travel, and his ongoing passion for woodworking.
He is survived by his brother Gordon, his daughter Janis, and his five grandchildren Adrian Day, Lacy and Danielle Calais, Gregory Brunner, and Dominick Repetti. The family wants to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Barton Hospital Hospice, and CV Medical Center for the caring services they provided during the final year of his life.
A celebration of life will be held at his home on Oct. 1 at 1pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Smile Train, Nature Conservancy, or a charity of the donor's choice.
