All sorts: Reno is overrun with bunco steerers and three-card monte sharps. Carson will be full of them next week.

President Harrison has practically decided to give California a place in his Cabinet. This honor will fall to M.M. Estee of San Francisco.

The residence of Mr. Harrison at Lake Tahoe was robbed of $380. The crime is laid at the door of a tin horn gambler who left the region about the time of the robbery.

70 YEARS AGO

Military Training: The local selective service is arranging to send Ormsby county's quota of seven men to the reception center of Salt Lake City. Tentative selection includes John Oberfell, Jack Raigle, A.M. Butti, Charles Ray Wilson and Geno Gianni.

50 YEARS AGO

20 YEARS AGO

New laws passed by the 1991 Legislature will take effect October 1 making the lives of Nevadans more difficult. The tax increase per gallon of gas will increase 2.5 percent and sales tax increases by 3/4 of a cent.

10 YEARS AGO

The philanthropy of one Carson City plumber is inspiring as Greg Peterson, owner and sole operator of Petersen Plumbing Services, has been working this week in exchange for dollar-for-dollar donations to the American Red Cross. He hopes to raise as much as $2,500 by weeks end and that amount will be doubled by Western Nevada Supply Co.
