'Think Purple' for Domestic Violence Awareness month

Our local Advocates to End Domestic Violence will be downtown on Monday putting up "purple ribbons," yes purple, not pink. We sometimes forget that Domestic Violence Awareness Month is the same month of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Join the Advocates in putting up the purple ribbons in remembrance of victims of domestic violence

WHO: Advocates To End Domestic Violence

WHAT: Purple ribbon tying event to bring awareness of victims of domestic violence within our community that need assistance. Each ribbon represents a victim.

WHEN: Tying starts at 1 p.m. Monday

WHERE: Downtown Carson

Food for Thought fundraiser

This weekend you can golf and help raise funds for Food for Thought. There is still time to sign up and support Pinion Hills Elementary School in the first Food for Thought Golf Tournament at Sunridge Golf Course. Support the 800 plus children in the Carson City/Carson Valley area that are homeless and in need of food on the weekends. And, if you can't join the fun, consider droping off non-perishable, easy to eat foods such as microwavable soup, easy mac, juice boxes, Power Bars, granola bars, fruit cups, crackers with cheese or peanut butter etc.

Clear Creek Bowmen Turkey Shoot

Grab your bows and have a good time with the Clear Creek Bowmen Archery Club. They are hosting their annual Turkey Shoot. No they don't have live turkeys, so relax folks. There will be 35, three dimensional animal targets and the prizes will be, you guessed it, frozen turkeys. This event is open to all ages so grab your bows and arrows and come on down and win a turkey.

DON'T FORGET: The Carson Wine Walk is Saturday. Purchase your glasses at the Nugget, Cactus Jacks, Horseshoe Club, Carson Jewelry & Loan or Bella Fiore. Turn in your map at the Carson Nugget at 5 p.m. for prizes.
