Nevada Neighbors, the Capital City Arts Initiative's ongoing series of illustrated public talks, will present artist Lexi Boeger at 7 p.m. today at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop St.
Boeger's illustrated talk will be "Handspun Revolution: Blurring the Line Between Art and Craft." An informal reception for Boeger will start at 6:15 p.m. preceding her talk.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Boeger learned how to crochet in 2000but found that she was much more interested in the yarn than the object that she wascrocheting.
She bought traditional handspun yarnfrom a local shop and discovered there was something about it that was more alive than commercial yarns.
She immediately began learning to spin and to produce handspun yarns for her art production.
Boeger has written several books about spinning, including "Handspun Revolution" and "Intertwined."
She has shown her work in the western United States and in Norway and is an originator of the handspinning genre often referred to as Art Yarn. She lives with her family in Placerville, Calif.
