As part of the Bureau of Land Management's National Sage Grouse Planning Strategy, the BLM and U.S. Forest Service are holding interactive social and economic public workshops on June 28 at the Gold Dust West Hotel, 2171 Highway 50 East.

The workshops will include a 20-minute presentation followed by a 40-minute discussion and will be offered at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The workshops will guide interested parties on how to contribute social and economic information in the development of the Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement to amend land use plans throughout the sage grouse's range in Nevada and northeast California. They also will provide an opportunity for individuals to provide information regarding the use of public lands resources, how public lands influence their quality of life and how the BLM and U.S. Forest Service can balance multiple uses on public lands while planning for conservation of sage grouse habitat. This input will be used to develop consistent objectives and conservation measures that will be incorporated into all relevant land use plans by 2014.

The presentation and discussion will be available real-time online through WebEx.
