Carson Rainbow Assembly: The sixth birthday of the Order of Rainbow for Girls in Carson City was celebrated in the Odd Fellows Hall (across from State Capitol on Musser Street. Divorce: Mrs. Nelson Rockefeller obtained a divorce decree in Reno ending her marriage to the Governor New York charging mental cruelty. The 54-year old former Mary Todhunter Clark completed her six-week residence at Donner Trail Guest Ranch west of Reno.

Russian satellites show that man's first soil samples of Venus are chemically similar to volcanic rock on Earth. The first color pictures taken from the spacecraft show an eerie orange-lighted rocky surface.

Band Director Richard Doede and his high school band play for the Band-O-Rama. The students will join with 950 other fifth through ninth graders throughout the school district at the Carson City High School.
