RENO - Carson High's girls soccer team knocked off Damonte 3-1 Tuesday night in a Sierra League match.
The win improved Carson's record to 12-0-2 with games against Wooster and Douglas left on the schedule.
Carson scored in the 23rd minute when Kenzie Tillitt headed the ball in off of a cross from Danielle Sandage.
Damonte was awarded a penalty kick in the 38th minute and was able to convert, tying the match at 1. Carson went ahead 2-1 in the 52nd minute when Michelle Sandage scored on assist from Tillitt. In the 68th minute, freshman Lorena Gomez finished from a corner kick.
Goalkeeper Emmy Heller played an outstanding game for the Senators.
• The Carson JV squad won 3-2. The Senators' first goal came at 1:51 on an unassisted goal from Nahim Flores. Josie Veneziano scored four minutes later on an assist from Andrea Maffei.
Damonte fired back in the 29th minute to make the score 2-1, but Carson's Madison Preston scored in the 36th minute to finish the half.
Damonte came back strong in the second half. Keeper Veneziano came out to make a save and was judged to be out of the box, resulting in Damonte scoring off of a free kick from just outside the 18.
Fallon boys blank Dayton
DAYTON - Fallon scored two goals in the first four minutes en route to a 3-0 win over the Dust Devils.
Defender Danny Alfaro saved a goal when the Dayton keeper came out to stop a shot and the ball got behind him. Alfaro kicked it away before it crossed the line.
"Other than that (two goals) it was a tight game," Dayton coach Karl Watts said. "Danny's was the play of the game."
Dayton concludes its season next Tuesday at home against Fernley.
Fallon girls stop Dayton
DAYTON - Fallon posted a 3-0 win over Dayton in a Division IA game Tuesday night at Dayton.
Maribel Ledezma's shot late in the second half was turned back thanks to a diving stop. Erica McCoy had a good look, too, but her shot sailed over the crossbar.
Coach Jared Miklich praised the play of defender Kylie Pack, midfielder McCoy and forward Madison Reid.
Dayton plays Lovelock Thursday and hosts Fernley Tuesday.
CROSS COUNTRY
Carson JV boys win title
SPARKS - Carson High's JV cross country squad won the northern Nevada JV championship Tuesday afternoon.
Carson finished with 49, Douglas was third with 67 and Elko was third with 100.
Wyatt Cartier was third in 20:40, Ian Vanrensselaer was fourth in 20:43, Tony Xie fifth in 20:55, Michael Liken was 18th in 21:41 and Craig Smith was 19th in 21:46. Charles Hersey was a nonscoring 37th in 22:42.
Carson earlier won the Reed meet.
The JV girls were eighth. McQueen, Elko and Spanish Springs took the top three spots.
Samantha Phelps was 13th in 26:41, Lake Shank was 28th in 27:30, Kyndra Holoway was 43rd in 28:26, Lauren Wedell was 48th in 29:10, Rosa Czarez-Guerrero was 59th in 30:55 and Michelle Nye was a nonscoring 73rd in 33:02.
VOLLEYBALL
Muckers stop S. Lutheran
VIRGINIA CITY - Virginia City had an easy time with Sierra Lutheran, winning 25-16, 25-17 and 25-12 Tuesday night in a Division IV match.
VC improved to 9-1 in league and 17-3 overall.
Corinna Obermayr had seven kills and eight digs, while Jamie Poston added eight digs and four kills, and Nikki D'Agostino contributed six digs and three kills.
The Muckers' JV squad won 2-0 to improve to 10-0 in league and 15-1 overall.
