The 19th annual Kids Auction & World’s Greatest BBQ is set for Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Mills Park Pony Express Pavilion Center.The fundraiser is the biggest of the year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.The event — with an all-you-can-eat meal, an open bar and musical entertainment along with a raft of auction items — begins at 4 p.m. and the admission is $100.“This is the only special event that we do, so it’s critical that we’re successful,” said Hal Hansen, who is spearheading the event. “We’ve got a ton of food.”He said it’s a topflight catered event with pork ribs, tri-tip beef, chicken, sausage, beans, various salads and dessert, along with libations from Capital Beverages and High Sierra Brewery. “There will be unlimited BBQ and a full service bar included in the price of admission,” said the auction website. “Get ready to enjoy some great entertainment as we dance the night away.”The Craig Fletcher Band will provide the musical entertainment.Hansen, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, added that the catering is handled by the award-winning Carson City BBQ and the auction items are designed to please.Among them are two tickets and hotel accommodations for the 2013 Indianapolis 500 auto race; a week’s vacation stay in Hawaii; two tickets and transport to the San Francisco 49ers-New York Giants football game Oct. 14 in San Francisco; four reserved tickets for the University of Nevada, Reno-Boise State football game Dec. 1 in Reno; golf packages at Eagle Valley, Wolf Run and Dayton Valley golf courses, and the right to name a race horse.The Name That Horse auction item includes the right to name a race horse owned by Mike Pegram, owner of Bodines Casino and the Carson Valley Inn, plus a trip to Del Mar Race Track on the opening race weekend in Southern California to stay at the Del Mar Hilton and have lunch with Bob Baffert, Hall of Fame race horse trainer.IF YOU GO WHAT: 19th annual Kids Auction & World’s Greatest BBQ to raise funds Boys & Girls Clubs of Western NevadaWHEN: 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 WHERE: Mills Park Pony Express Pavilion Center
