The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is busy planning this year’s Kids Auction & World’s Greatest Luau, which will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Marv Texeira Pony Express Pavilion.

Organizers expect more than 800 attendees, who will partake in dinner, an auction, music and more.

The event is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada’s major annual fundraising event; the club is hoping to raise $300,000 in one night, which is about 20 percent of its annual operating budget.

The club is celebrating 22 years of serving youth in Carson City and Carson Valley this year. Last year more than 3,000 children entered its doors and received academic help, life skills programs adult mentoring. Although it costs the club $500 per child to provide services, it only charges $30 per child per year, and no child is ever turned away due to inability to pay.

Donations are being collected for the event’s live and silent auctions, tickets and tables and sponsorships. Auction items can include gift certificates for services, collectibles, wine, outings, travel and more. Nothing is too small or too big.
